It’s time
to elect the FPAC Officers and Board of Directors. A slate of candidates will be presented for our members to vote
on at the April 22nd meeting. Here is the slate of candidates as of
April 10th, 2004.

Carroll
County Resident for over 25 years; has lived in Finksburg for 12 years. Served on the Carroll County Planning
Commission from September, 1995 to November, 2000. Vice-chairman for one year;
Served as Chairman for two years. FPAC Vice President for 2001-2002; President
from 2002-2004 (two terms) I would like to continue my service to our community
by serving on the Board.:

Candidates
will have 2-3 minutes to tell the general membership about themselves and
answer questions prior to the vote. The
new board will take office in May.
Public Safety Takes Center Stage:
The top
two law enforcement officers in Carroll County are scheduled to appear at our
next meeting. Captain R. Scott Yinger,
Westminster Barrack Commander and Sheriff Kenneth Tregoning will speak on
public safety, resident trooper program, proposed county jail and traffic
enforcement on Route 140. This is a
perfect opportunity for Finksburg to come out and raise questions about crime
prevention or any other issues facing the community.
Commissioners Hold Hearing On Proposed Development:
The
Carroll County Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request on a proposed
development on Arabian Drive in Jason Acres.
Ronald Abbott Sr. is seeking an exemption from the county’s deferral
management ordinance on “Abbott Acres.”
Abbott claims severe economic hardship.
After the commissioners hear public comment they will issue a decision
in writing. The hearing is schedule for
Thursday, April 15th at 3 p.m. in Room 300A of the County Office
Building. Any questions should be
directed to Steven Horn, county Planning Director at 410-386-2145.
The county Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled to hold a public hearing April 28th on a conditional use request from BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric) for an above ground electrical substation in the 19-hundred block of Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg. The property is zoned R-40,000. The hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. in hearing room 3/4, lower level, in the County Office Building.
Trash Pickup Big Success:
FPAC held
a trash pickup April 3rd
along Route 91 in Finksburg.
Eight people braved the chill and mud to collect 14 garbage bags in two
hours. Maureen Ackerman won the free
Subway coupon for her work. Congrats
Maureen.

month at the Sandy Mount United Methodist Church. Meetings begin at 7 PM. Board
meetings are usually held on the 1st Wednesday of each month.
Yearly Membership Fee: $10 per

your 2004 dues. The organization uses money from dues to pay for the printing
and mailing costs of this newsletter and other mailings.
