Candidates will have 2-3 minutes to tell the general membership about themselves and answer questions prior to the vote.  The new board will take office in May.

Public Safety Takes Center Stage:

The top two law enforcement officers in Carroll County are scheduled to appear at our next meeting.  Captain R. Scott Yinger, Westminster Barrack Commander and Sheriff Kenneth Tregoning will speak on public safety, resident trooper program, proposed county jail and traffic enforcement on Route 140.  This is a perfect opportunity for Finksburg to come out and raise questions about crime prevention or any other issues facing the community.

Commissioners Hold Hearing On Proposed Development:

The Carroll County Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request on a proposed development on Arabian Drive in Jason Acres.  Ronald Abbott Sr. is seeking an exemption from the county’s deferral management ordinance on “Abbott Acres.”  Abbott claims severe economic hardship.  After the commissioners hear public comment they will issue a decision in writing.  The hearing is schedule for Thursday, April 15th at 3 p.m. in Room 300A of the County Office Building.  Any questions should be directed to Steven Horn, county Planning Director at 410-386-2145.

The county Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled to hold a public hearing April 28th on a conditional use request from BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric) for an above ground electrical substation in the 19-hundred block of Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg.  The property is zoned R-40,000.  The hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. in hearing room 3/4, lower level, in the County Office Building.

Trash Pickup Big Success:

FPAC held a trash pickup April 3rd  along Route 91 in Finksburg.  Eight people braved the chill and mud to collect 14 garbage bags in two hours.  Maureen Ackerman won the free Subway coupon for her work.  Congrats Maureen.

Quote of the day from Donald Hoffman at the trash pickup.  “I’m having a ball.”
